Engaging Aboriginal contractors in mining operations

Monday 17 June
Adelaide Convention Centre
10.00 am to 4.00 pm

AEMEE workshopThis custom-made masterclass is designed to build business capability for miners and contractors wanting to effectively engage Aboriginal businesses.

Mining companies and their stakeholders are increasingly expecting contract partners to fulfil agreements with regional stakeholders. This masterclass is a timely opportunity to learn how to integrate Indigenous procurement techniques into your business procurement processes and to leverage associated benefits.

Experience shows great outcomes can be found where mining companies and their contractors have explicitly made Indigenous procurement a business priority and built a capacity to effectively engage. This drives business performance and stimulates regional economic development by creating further demand for Indigenous goods and services.

Facilitated by AEMEE (Aboriginal Enterprise in Mining, Energy and Exploration) and D4G’s experienced industry representatives, this masterclass offers stimulating and practical sessions.

Participants will be introduced to:

  • Australian case studies
  • The AEMEE Indigenous Procurement Checklist
  • An Industry Self-Assessment process
  • Hands-on materials to put ideas into practice

The program will also feature insights by mining companies well-regarded for their sound working relationships with Aboriginal enterprises in established and progressing mine sites.

With a host of practical tips and facilitated discussions, the workshop will equip participants with the thinking and tools needed to grow a regional workforce close to operations.
