In June 2014 Termite Resources NL (Termite), the entity which owns the Cairn Hill mine, appointed Ferrier Hodgson as Administrator (appointed Liquidators).
In December 2014, Ferrier Hodgson advised the Government of South Australia that a conditional sale agreement was executed with a buyer.
The Government of South Australia is working with the new owner, Cu-River Mining Australia Pty Ltd, as they work towards the recommencement of mining operations at Cairn Hill.

Mining lease granted April 2008. In October 2017, the Government of South Australia approved the revised program for environment protection and rehabilitation (PEPR) for the Cairn Hill Mine, allowing for the extension to the operations.
