Epic Energy owns and operates energy infrastructure across gas, renewable and storage assets, connecting retailers and industry with vital energy to drive communities forward.
The IKEA eleXsys Microgrid is a $6.6m project delivering a 1.2 MW rooftop solar system connected to a 3 MW / 3.2 MWh battery and controlled by the eleXsys Energy Management System. The project is a partnership between Planet Ark Power, IKEA and Epic Energy, with support from SA Power Networks and the South Australian government.
The microgrid creates a new model for grid connected renewable energy systems supplying clean energy to IKEA, enabling energy trading with the National Energy Market and providing security and stability services for the electricity grid.
Planet Ark Power’s unique, Australian designed, eleXsys technology platform provides a cost-effective solution to the curtailment of distributed energy resources, enabling installation of optimised rooftop solar across commercial and industrial buildings. Combined with batteries in a microgrid, this plays a key role in providing stability to the grid enabling the transition towards a 100% renewable grid.
