Due to an outbreak of COVID-19 in Western Australia, Emergency Management (Cross Border Travel – Associated Direction No 5) (COVID-19) Direction 2021 has replaced Cross Border Travel Associated Direction No 4.
Accordingly, companies should reinstate their control measures for any essential travel from the Western Australia Perth and Peel zones and avoid worker movements wherever possible from these regions.
Since 12.01 am on Saturday 24 April 2021 travellers who have been in the Western Australia Perth and Peel regions between Saturday 17 April 2021 and 12.01 am Saturday 24 April 2021 are subject to Level 3 requirements.
Under these requirements those travellers must:
- submit to COVID-19 testing within 24 hours, and on the 5th day, and on the 13th day after arrival
- self-quarantine until receiving a negative COVID-19 test result
- not enter or remain in a high risk setting for 14 days after arrival
- not attend any event with an approved COVID Management Plan or at which more than 1000 people are present for 14 days after arrival.
Since 12.01 am Saturday 24 April 2021, travellers from Western Australia who have been in the Perth or Peel regions at any time during the 14 days prior to arrival are prohibited from entering unless they are essential travellers or a permitted arrival, who are subject to Level 4 requirements.
Exemptions for travel in relation to specialist workers in essential sectors including the mining, oil, gas and energy sectors remain in place.
Essential travellers must:
- submit to COVID-19 testing within 24 hours, and on the 5th day, and on the 13th day after arrival
- self-quarantine for 14 days after arrival (essential travellers must self-quarantine when not working as stipulated)
- wear a face mask when coming into contact with the public for 14 days after arrival
- Category 1 essential travellers must not enter or remain in a high risk setting in South Australia for 14 days unless permitted to enter in accordance with clause 9 (Clause 12(1)(a)(ii).
Provisions of the Cross Border Travel (Associated Direction No 5) should be read in conjunction with the General Cross Border Travel Direction.
