The Emergency Management (Cross Border Travel – Associated Direction No 8) (COVID-19) Direction 2021 took effect from 12.01am Friday 7 May 2021 in response to a community transmission of COVID-19 in New South Wales.
All people, including Essential Travellers, who have been at a COVID-19 case location either as a close or casual contact at the specified date and time as listed on the Government of New South Wales website are subject to Level 6 restrictions, which do not permit entry into South Australia.
The majority of these people should already be in 14 days quarantine in New South Wales and are not permitted to leave quarantine to travel to South Australia.
Companies from essential industries should ensure any workers who have visited the listed locations at the specified times as a close or casual contact should adhere to the prohibition on entry to South Australia set out in Level 6 restrictions.
People who were already in South Australia before 12.01 am Friday 7 May 2021 and who have been at a COVID-19 case location at the specified date and time are subject to Level 5 requirements.
Under Level 5 requirements, people must reside and remained quarantined and segregated from other people at place determined by an authorised officer for 14 days.
The person must receive a COVID-19 test within 24 hours and on day five and day 13 following their entry into South Australia, and must wear a face mask which covers their mouth and nose at any time that the person comes in contact with the public for 14 days after their arrival into South Australia.
Provisions of the Cross Border Travel (Associated Direction No.8) should be read in conjunction with the General Cross Border Travel Direction.
