The Energy Productivity Program was available to businesses that use more than 160 MWh of electricity each year to incentivise investing in energy productivity measures.

Energy productivity audit grants

Applications for the first component of the program, grants for energy productivity audits, closed on 31 May 2017. Under this part of the program, grants of 75 per cent of the cost of a Level 2 energy audit, up to $15,000, were offered to businesses to engage an external energy auditor to identify energy productivity opportunities.

Energy productivity implementation grants

Energy productivity implementation grants were available for large businesses to implement the recommendations of a recently completed Level 2 (or equivalent) energy audit.  Applications for this component of the program closed on 31 March 2018.  Grants were available under two streams.

Under Stream 1, grants up to $2.5 million were available, based on a $1 grant from the South Australian Government for every $2 contributed by the business.

Under Stream 2, grants up to $75,000 were available, based on a $1 grant from the South Australian Government for every $1 contributed by the business.

2018-19 State Budget

On 4 September 2018, the 2018-19 State Budget announced that $2.5 million funding remains in the Energy Productivity Program. Budget Measures Statement Budget Paper 5 announced that the funds will be awarded to the projects identified as having the greatest benefit.

Applications are being assessed to determine those that provide the greatest benefit.

It is anticipated that successful applicants will be notified by November 2018.
