DTA offers embedded systems that produce real-time insights into the performance of an asset, initially against the original design but also ongoing against live benchmarks, to provide independent dynamic risk mitigation and management to improve safety, efficiency, outcomes and returns.
Project: Copper Electro-Refinery Digital Twin Pilot Project

Digital Twinning Australia delivered a pilot project targeted at improving the electro refinery productivity using novel digital twinning technology. The project in question took place at the copper plate electro refinery at Olympic Dam for BHP – where significant uplift was achieved in crane performance within the electro refinery. Copper plate production per shift is uplifted by 14% as a result of Digital Twinning Australia’s project.
The following key values were realised as a result of this digital twin project:
- On demand access to relevant data for the operators
- Reduction in unplanned downtime for the crane and associated systems
- Increased crane cycle time reliability
- Speed to access critical information for frontline workers dramatically reduced
- Proactive and predictive maintenance capability enhanced
