Solar photovoltaic systems and battery storage

Rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) systems convert energy from the sun into electricity you can use in your property. Any electricity you don't use gets fed into the main electricity grid. Large-scale batteries can be connected to solar PV systems to store energy generated during the day. This energy can be used at night or in poor weather when the system isn't generating much energy.

From 1 July 2013 and new solar inverter installation must meet Dynamic Exports compliance requirements. Dynamic Exports mean that solar exports automatically adjust to match the available capacity of the network.

South Australia’s Virtual Power Plant

With the support of the Government of South Australia, Tesla and electricity retailer Energy Locals, are developing South Australia’s Virtual Power Plant (SA VPP), a network of potentially 50,000 solar and Tesla Powerwall home battery systems across South Australia, all working together to form the world’s largest virtual power plant.
