Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme 2026-2030

The Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme (REPS) is a South Australian Government initiative which sets productivity targets for energy retailers to meet. This consultation was to determine new productivity targets and obligation thresholds to support the delivery of energy productivity and energy efficiency benefits over the next five year period.

Firm Energy Reliability Mechanism (FERM)

The South Australian government has proposed a framework to support sufficient long duration firm capacity to ensure secure, reliable and resilient electricity supply for South Australia, at least-cost to consumers.

The South Australian Copper Strategy refresh

The South Australian government sought feedback on the development of a refreshed South Australian Copper Strategy. The first Coper Strategy was released in 2016.

The government sought input on the key themes, targets, projects and actions which will create the most value to South Australian's from the state's copper resources.

Small Claims Compensation Scheme

The South Australian government is proposing amendments to the National Energy Retail Law (Local Provisions) Regulations 2013 to establish a small claims compensation scheme in South Australia. The scheme will enable household and small business electricity customers to file small claims for compensation from electricity distributors for property damage due to electrical infrastructure equipment failure.

The government is seeking community and stakeholder feedback on the proposed regulations.

Proposed removal of SAB2D5 from the Plumbing Code of Australia

The Office of the Technical Regulator (OTR) undertook industry consultation and sought feedback for the proposed removal of a South Australia Variation to the National Construction Code (NCC), Volume 3: The Plumbing Code of Australia.

South Australia's National Energy Retail Law Regulations

The Department for Energy and Mining is reviewing the National Energy Retail Law (Local Provisions) Regulations 2013  which apply to the sale and supply of energy to small customers in South Australia. Feedback was invited to help determine which regulations should be re-made and which could be allowed to expire.

Controlled load profile and sample meters

South Australia sought amendment to the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) Metrology Procedure which previously prepared load profiles using data sourced from sample meters maintained by SA Power Networks.

The Department for Energy and Mining consulted on the proposal to discontinue the requirements for controlled load profiles and sample meters in South Australia.

Energy and Mining on the Limestone Coast

The government sought feedback from people and companies who have been impacted by mining, quarrying or energy projects, or have concerns about future projects in Limestone Coast region.

Hydrogen and Renewable Energy Act and Regulations

The Hydrogen and Renewable Energy Act 2023 introduces a ‘one window to government’ licensing and regulatory system for the lifecycle of large-scale hydrogen and renewable energy projects in South Australia.

Update to the Non-Drinking Water Guidelines

The Office of Technical Regulator has been seeking input during the update of the Non-Drinking Water Guidelines. Stakeholders were invited to review the proposed draft and provide comments or feedback to ensure that the updates of the guidelines remain relevant to the current needs and practices within the water industry.

The Petroleum and Geothermal (Energy Resources) Amendment Act 2023 passed the South Australian parliament in November 2023. The draft regulations to associated with the Act were made available for public consultation.
