Peter Weli

Peter came to Australia as an international student and graduated from The University of Adelaide with a First Class Honours Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering and recognition as a High Performing Graduate, accompanied by sponsorship from the South Australian Government for the Skilled Migration Program.

He joined BHP as Commissioning Specialist, supporting the safe transition of projects into assets at Olympic Dam before being promoted to his current role as Lead Commissioning. Peter now leads a team focused on the preparation and implementation of the commissioning strategy and execution plan, governing the commissioning processes, and supporting the safe transition of projects into assets to enable sustainable operation and mine production at Olympic Dam.

Throughout his career Peter has undertaken diverse roles encompassing asset management, engineering design, construction and commissioning, delivering various complex mining projects across the globe and gaining valuable insights into the benefits of embracing diversity and promoting inclusivity in the workplace.

Peter's aim is to further develop his broader project and people management skills and become an effective leader in the industry.
