Update - Annual fees for exploration licences

Aside from exceptional or extenuating circumstances, surrender applications or regulatory processes that result in a change in area for exploration licences received from 1 July 2025 will not be considered for pro-rata refunds of annual fees paid in advance.

From 1 July 2025, the fee for the registration and/or removal of an agent or operator no longer applies.

Tenement information – MERS Portal

Information about current mineral tenements is available via the MERS Portal.

Through the MERS Portal you can:

• Create and submit new applications and lodgements
• View active tenements in My Dashboard
• Manage Access, including inviting additional employees and third-party representatives (such as Tenement Managers, Agents and Operators) and/or removing their access
• Receive email reminders and notifications
• Respond to a request for further information
• View upcoming and current reporting and return obligations
• Search the Mining Register

Tenement information – SARIG

SARIG can be used to:

• Identify ground open for exploration licence application
• Download exploration data and reports
• Download and print state maps (updated daily) including:
  • Mineral exploration tenement applications
  • Mineral exploration licences
  • Mineral exploration release areas
  • Mineral production tenements
  • Land access considerations, for example Parks, Aboriginal Land, Defence Lands etc.
