With the commencement of the Hydrogen and Renewable Energy Act 2023 on 11 July 2024, the Department for Energy and Mining is preparing guidance to assist companies in understanding the licensing and approval requirements, with a focus on supporting both new activity proposals and those transitioning from regulation under the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016 (PDI Act).
In addition, PlanSA has also prepared a fact sheet which clearly sets out how the PDI Act will apply to those hydrogen and renewable energy developments currently authorised by or under assessment under the PDI Act.
