Mining operation

Open pit mining and ore processing (crushing and screening) to produce a lump and fines product followed by direct ore transport for export.

Locationwilgerup_blue30 km SE of the township of Lock on central Eyre Peninsula
Tenement information

Information about the tenement is available from the South Australian Resources Information Gateway (SARIG)

The deposit

The Wilgerup tenement is located within the Cleve Subdomain of the Gawler Craton Block. Massive hematite ore body dips roughly north-northeast, with orebody subcrops buried beneath 20-25 m of unconsolidated sand and clay.

The massive carbonate rock that underlies the massive ore in places, and BIF in other places that can be beneficiated by fine grinding and gravity separation techniques, may have potential as an economic resource.
