The South Australian Government is investing more than half a billion dollars in hydrogen projects, shipping infrastructure and modelling tools for investors and developers.

Led by the Department for Energy and Mining, the South Australian Government will continue to deepen its engagement with key hydrogen industry stakeholders and coordinate the state’s efforts in scaling up its hydrogen industry.

Hydrogen jobs plan

The Hydrogen Jobs Plan includes the construction of a large-scale green hydrogen production facility and a hydrogen power station.

Australian Gas Networks (AGN) - Hydrogen Park South Australia (HyP SA)

AGN’s Hydrogen Park South Australia is an $11.4 million demonstration project comprising a 1.25 megawatt (MW) electrolyser at the Tonsley Innovation District in Adelaide’s southern suburbs, the largest of its kind installed in Australia.

Australian hydrogen infrastructure company H2U is developing a facility integrating more than 75 megawatt (MW) in water electrolysis to produce renewable hydrogen and renewable ammonia on Eyre Peninsula in South Australia.

Trafigura Group Pte. Ltd. - Port Pirie Green Hydrogen Project

Trafigura, one of the largest physical commodities trading groups in the world, is investigating plans to develop a landmark $750 million hydrogen project to be integrated with the Nyrstar Port Pirie lead smelter in the state’s north.
