Location
The project is approximately 550 km northwest of Adelaide and 63 km southwest from the nearest township of Kingoonya.
The deposits are located on exploration licenses (EL) 5901, 6639 and 6845.

Barton Gold is the sole owner of the Tunkillia Gold Project. Tunkillia 2 Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of Barton Gold Holdings Limited (Barton Gold) is the tenement holder of ELs 5901, 6639 and 6845.
Project
Barton Gold is proposing to develop the Tunkillia Gold Project in central South Australia.
The project is proposed to involve the construction and operation of a large-scale, open pit gold and silver mining operation using conventional open pit mining methods. It will include three open pits, three waste rock facilities (WRF), processing plant, tailings storage facility (TSF), borefield, airfield, power station, a renewable energy source(s), accommodation camp, and an access road. The proposed mine life is currently estimated at approximately 10 years.

Status
Barton gold has completed a detailed approvals scoping process in accordance with the Department for Energy and Mining's (DEM) scoping framework. The process included the following main steps:
- Preliminary impact assessment
- Preliminary impact assessment meetings
- Draft scoping report
- Government review
- Final scoping report.
The Tunkillia Gold Project scoping report was published by the department in September 2026 and will act as the project-specific terms of reference for a mining lease application for the Tunkillia Gold Project. It sets out the required studies, modelling, environmental and social impact assessment methods, mitigation and management methods, and engagement approach.
