In 2022 Enerven were awarded the contract to undertake the design, procurement, and construction associated with the expansion works at Robertstown Substation for ElectraNet. The project connected the largest wind farm in South Australia to ElectraNet’s transmission network, supporting the strengthening of the electricity network to create a more secure and sustainable supply for South Australians.

To minimise environmental impact and ensure wildlife, water flows and vegetation in the area were not impacted, 200 m of reinforced concrete culverts were built below the length of the substation, the first of its kind in ElectraNet’s network.

A separate evaporation pond was expanded to capture runoff water. The soil removed was utilised to create a bund to direct the flow path of stormwater away from the pond towards the natural swales, with previously cleared vegetation replanted along the bund to combat erosion.
