Charleigh is BHP's Olympic Dam Superintendent of Facilities Management, responsible for the onsite soft services and maintenance contracts. She leads a team of two Supervisors and two specialists to foster a safe and inclusive workplace for their business partner team which consists of Cleaning, Laundry, PPE Safety Store and Maintenance that deliver to their portfolio.

The teams are responsible for cleaning and maintaining 46,000 square metres of buildings on the surface and underground, laundering 10,000 garments daily for the surface and underground workforce, and managing the PPE Safety Store giving out the PPE on the surface at Olympic Dam.

Charleigh began her working life with a Registered Training Organisation,  undertaking a traineeship and developing her skills in business management, accounts payable and receivable, human resources, payroll, training and assessor duties, and first hand industry experience in training on behalf of TAFEs.

Her move into mining followed a family visit to Roxby Downs, joining a contracting business partner to BHP and supervising the Olympic Dam cleaning teams for four years. Charleigh planned the 'Hygiene' COVID cleaning team, and then moved into a supervisory position for the Onsite Facilities Management team, prior to transitioning to her current Superintendent role.

She has been instrumental in driving significant and successful inclusion and diversity trials on site around women's wear in the industry. BHP now stock women's shirts, pants and boots at the PPE store - a pivotal piece of the company's attraction and retention for women in the industry. The team at BHP are also looking at the recycle rate for garments, striving to reduce the impact of PPE on landfill and reducing their environmental footprint.

Charleigh's career goals include further qualifications in project management, and leadership and management, and continuing to mentor and support her direct team and contract business partner.
