Krystin is BHP Prominent Hill’s Graduate – Social Performance, working with BHP stakeholders including working with:

  • Traditional Owners, coordinating Prominent Hill’s cross cultural awareness training, delivering activities to celebrate NAIDOC week and other events, and performing Cultural Heritage audits to uphold the integrity of sites connected to Prominent Hill
  • Pastoralists, resolving issues that might arise, supporting neighbours and pastoral events and dealing with compensation payments
  • The Department of Defence, providing obligatory compliance information
  • Schools, Government departments  and not-for-profits, supporting school engagements and employment opportunities, and sponsorship and in-kind support for health, wellbeing and social initiatives
  • Local communities, supporting events and engagement opportunities through staff attendance, sponsorship and volunteering

She is responsible for the delivery of several initiatives involving the community and key stakeholders, including supporting the PARTY Program, a health and wellbeing initiative at Port Augusta aimed at 15 to 25 year olds to prevent alcohol misuse and dangerous behaviour. delivering a career event for Coober Pedy Area School students with a strong focus on pathways to employment and driving unique art opportunities and initiatives for our site with our Traditional Owners and community members.

Krystin grew up in Coober Pedy (the closest community to Prominent Hill) and has a Bachelor of Psychological Science with a major in Criminology. After volunteering for State Emergency Services for over 3 years, Krystin was fully employed as a SAPOL COVID support officer.

She hopes to complete her graduate program and Prominent Hill and continue employment with BHP, helping create thriving regional and local communities.
