Sanchita is a Commissioning Engineer with BHP, providing commissioning, metallurgical and process engineering support on the BARS Project (Ion Exchange and Hydrochloric acid recovery system). This is a complex and highly visible Greenfields Asset Project at Olympic Dam, requiring technical guidance and troubleshooting support for a rapid ramp-up to de-constrain the mine plan and expand the capability of the processing plant.

Her day-to-day role involves working with cross-functional teams, identifying and resolving engineering design issues timely and safely, developing and executing Stages 3 and 4 of commissioning activities to confirm operating functionality of the new plant. Aim is to ensure intended design, Engineering Effectiveness and Safety in Design is met for the constructed plant, prior to handover to Operations.

Sanchita graduated with a double Honour’s degree in Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology. Her interests include sustainability, safety, innovation, and building a brighter future for humanity.

Her career so far has led her through industries such as minerals processing, manufacturing, aviation and technology, where she has contributed to meaningful projects that drive positive impact, introduce sustainable alternatives, conserve our resources and enhance our ways of working.
