Siddharth is a Product Owner at MaxMine, a data platform that improves mining operational efficiency, profitability, safety and sustainability - getting mining done differently through the strategic integration of artificial intelligence, automated data processing and analytics.

He leads a team building technology to help miners make better short-interval control (SIC) decisions through data. The innovative products target multiple aspects of improvement to drive productivity uplift and reduce the carbon intensity of an operation by giving dispatchers and supervisors near real-time visibility on the performance and constraints of their operations so they can take corrective action sooner.

Following graduation with a degree in mechanical engineering and finance Siddharth was offered a position at MaxMine as an analytics engineer. Despite not having any background in software engineering, and not having considered working in the mining industry, he saw it as an opportunity to build future-ready skills in software while still applying mechanical engineering principles and approaches to problem solving.

After 18 months as both a developer building the SIC product and as an analyst using the data to answer specific client problems, Siddharth become MaxMine's first Product Owner. This entailed switching from building the product to deciding which products to build, and participating in higher-level business decisions at an early stage of his career.

His career goal is to lead a new division of MaxMine in the space of SIC consulting, a specific niche which focuses on designing an intra-shift management operating system and standard operating procedures to deliver business improvement.

Siddharth is currently running small-scale tests of the market appetite for these services with existing clients, and formalising the team’s collective experience into 'playbooks' of repeatable analysis and recommendations. The intention is for this research to be collaborative and contribute to broader industry standards through organisations such as Global Mining Guidelines Group.
