Seven-day lockdown - key points for resources and energy sector
The Premier of South Australia has this morning announced a seven-day lockdown starting at 6pm Tuesday 20 July 2021.
The purpose of the lockdown is to reduce community transmission risk by preventing the movement of people across South Australia.
Key points:
- Construction, operation, maintenance and repair of essential infrastructure (for example: electricity, gas, water, sewerage, drainage and liquid fuels and refinery operations) may continue.
- Quarrying, mining, oil, gas, energy, processing, refining, and remote and isolated exploration sites may continue to operate.
- FIFO workers may enter and leave South Australia.
- Discretionary activities across the sector involving personnel movement should cease, and all operations should take immediate measures to reduce personnel movements in South Australia.
- Companies must monitor the list of exposure sites and ensure any staff who have interacted with those sites do not report to site. Staff who have recently reported to site must also be assessed against exposure sites, and managed in accordance with your risk management protocols.
As with the previous lockdown in November 2020, the sector should take a pragmatic approach to the situation, consistent with both the intent of the lockdown and the expectations of the South Australian community.
