Since 2012, all offshore exploration activities are the responsibility of the Commonwealth and are managed under the Offshore Petroleum & Greenhouse Gas Storage Act (OPGGSA) by the National Offshore Petroleum Titles Administrator (NOPTA) and the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA). All data submitted under the OPGGSA is administered by Geoscience Australia and can be accessed via the NOPIMS data portal.
